Pollution in the seas is now speeding global warming, says a devastating new climate report. Humanity is rapidly turning the seas acid through the same pollution that causes global warming, the world’s governments and top scientists agreed yesterday. The process – thought to be the most profound change in the chemistry of the oceans for 20 million years – is expected both to disrupt the entire web of life of the oceans and to make climate change worse.
The warning is just one of a whole series of alarming conclusions in a new report published by the official Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), which last month shared the Nobel Peace Prize with former US vice president Al Gore.

Workers at a Cordelia wildlife center are working around the clock to save hundreds of birds caught in the largest San Francisco Bay oil spill in nearly 20 years.The 58,000-gallon spill occurred Wednesday when a large container ship slammed into the Bay Bridge in San Francisco. The bridge escaped serious damage, but the side of the ship was ripped open and bunker fuel from the vessel spread quickly across the bay, polluting water and endangering wildlife.

York was found dead on Nov. 2 in his home on the South Ridge of the Grand Canyon. He had died from pneumonic plague, contracted during the Oct. 27 necropsy of a cougar, or mountain lion, according to Grand Canyon National Park officials.
York, 37, was a wildlife biologist at the park, working in the cougar collaring program.

More than 100 countries face political chaos and mass migration in global warming catastrophe.
A total of 46 nations and 2.7 billion people are now at high risk of being overwhelmed by armed conflict and war because of climate change. A further 56 countries face political destabilisation, affecting another 1.2 billion individuals.
This stark warning will be outlined by the peace group International Alert in a report, A Climate of Conflict, this week. Much of Africa, Asia and South America will suffer outbreaks of war and social disruption as climate change erodes land, raises seas, melts glaciers and increases storms, it concludes. Even Europe is at risk.
